Wireless Subscriber Report – Mid-Year 2011 Results

This special CTIA Insight report on wireless subscribership in the U.S. includes reported and estimated subscribership, the growth rates for both reported and estimated subscribership within and between survey periods, digital subscribership (historically), and total wireless penetration.  The report also provides wireless subscribership by state and penetration by state and Economic Area (drawing upon governmental sources). The report also reviews the trend in disconnects (total disconnects, and voluntary versus involuntary disconnects) and overall carrier participation in CTIA’s semi-annual survey.

CTIA’s survey has been conducted since January 1985, and includes all forms of “commercial mobile radio service” providers – cellular, personal communications services and enhanced mobile radio service providers – serving more than 95% of all U.S. wireless users.
